The Hunts: "One Happy Island"

Last Saturday morning at 3:30am, Justin and I headed to the airport tired, but excited for our trip. After a brief layover in Miami we were Aruba bound; arriving shortly after 2pm. It was HOT. But there is a constant breeze in Aruba the locals refer to as their 'natural air-conditioning' and it definitely makes the heat more than bearable. We stayed in an adults-only resort located on Eagle beach, a beautiful and quiet stretch of beach perfect for the relaxation we were craving. Upon our arrival we were greeted with champagne and refreshing towels (I honestly had no idea what I was suppose to do with the cold, wet towel they handed to me with tongs!) Despite it being a little over a month early, we used this trip to celebrate our one year anniversary. I of course mentioned this to the hotel and was pleased to find that they left us an anniversary gift bag full of goodies including a bottle of champagne and two glasses. After taking our luggage to our room, we quickly changed into swim suits and headed for the beach. We lounged around there until the sun went down... which didn't happen until after 8pm!

On our second to last day in Aruba, we decided to rent a car and tour the island. Aruba is a very small Island with very few roads. In the course of 2 hours, we drove the island twice! And this was our sweet ride:

The California Lighthouse- the western most point of the island.

Baby Beach- the south-eastern point of the island. It is popular for families as the water is only waist high.

The Natural Bridge (#1 tourist attraction in Aruba)- located right in the center of the northern part of the island.

Waves crashing against the coral is what eventually created the Natural Bridge. There was an even larger bridge that collapsed back in 2005

We headed back to the hotel and got ready for dinner. We had some really delicious food while we were there. Aruba has tons of restaurants. There were so many that looked amazing but we would have needed a month or so in order to try them all!
Our last day there was spent on the beach. I had read a quote prior to our vacation and it said,
"A vacation is having nothing to do, and all day to do it." --That sums up our idea of vacation pretty well. Aruba gave us just what we were looking for... some peace and quiet to enjoy together with the sound and view of the ocean in the background. It was great.
