Owen's 1 month old!

Dear Owen,
You are one month old today. How did that happen!? It feels like just yesterday that we were bringing you home from the hospital. But we definitely know you so much better now than we did that day. We've loved getting to know you, Owen.

You love to be with people and hate being left by yourself. Even when Daddy and I are getting ready in the morning... we have to bring your bouncy seat into the bathroom with us. The sounds of the shower and the blow-dryer calm you and put you to sleep. But most of the time, your favorite place to be is in somebody's arms. You are definitely the most content when being held. Even as I type this, you are on my lap because you started fussing the moment I tried to put you down. It's not always convenient (especially when trying to type something), but we love snuggling you.
You do great on outings and have already attended your first bridal shower and wedding. You usually fall asleep in your carseat the moment we get on the road. Bath time has been a toss-up. The chance of you screaming throughout has been 50/50. But I think you're finally turning a corner there. You've been the most wonderful nighttime sleeper- typically sleeping one 5-6 hour stretch. Daddy and I appreciate that more than you know!
You have a big appetite and after a slow initial weight gain, have finally started to pack on the pounds. Your last weight check was 9 pounds, 11 ounces. You've outgrown your newborn size clothing, yet some of your 0-3 month clothes are still too big. You love your pacifier and found your thumb just yesterday. You are very strong for your age, even your doctors have said so! You've been holding up your head from day 1. You don't have any control over it, but you hold it up none-the-less. You were 17 days old when you rolled from your tummy to your back and almost gave Mommy a heart-attack! You are usually very alert when awake and stare wide-eyed at whoever is holding you. And you've just started to make more cooing sounds... usually its just grunts/groans. :) You are extremely expressive, especially with your mouth! We can't help but laugh at the many faces you make. You've had a mild case of baby acne, much to our dismay. But it is finally starting to clear up. Your hair has been noticeably growing since you were born. It's always been longer in the back than in the front. And I'm 90% positive you are working on a pretty sweet mullet.
We love you so much Owen and are so thankful to be your parents. We pray constantly that God would mold us and make us into the parents you need us to be and the parents He wants us to be for you.

Happy 1 month Birthday!
